Adobe abandons Flash for iPhone packager development

With Apple's banning Adobe Flash based content on all of its mobile devices, Adobe announced that it has now officially given up on Apple.

Android 2.2, code-named "Froyo," will fully support Adobe's Flash platform, Andy Rubin, Google's vice president of engineering, told The New York Times' Bits blog Tuesday.

While continuing to bicker with Apple about the non-availability of Flash on the iPhone and iPad, Adobe has bad news for those with other mobile devices. Flash won't be available on Android, WebOS, or BlackBerry either until the second half of this year, Adobe CEO Shantanu Narayen said in an interview with FOX Business....

In case you'd missed it, Apple and Adobe are locked in a battle. It's a battle over which standards will prevail in our web browsers. On one side, Adobe and its Flash platform is the reigning champion. Flash has been the powerhouse behind the distribution of video and other rich web content. But coming out of the other corner is the challenger.
