Admin Password Changed, Need to Revert

http://serverfault.com – Im kinda new to network administration. I was asked to change the password on our SQL Server. The only account that is used to log in is the Administrator account. I did a dumb thing and reset it through Ctrl+Alt+Delete > "Change Password". The admin password got reset for the whole domain. I tried to reset it (through the same method) but im gettin an error stating that the password cannot be one that was recently used. Question: Is the best solution to reset the password through Active Directory? Or does anyone have a better suggestion? (HowTos)

I reset the password for sa for ms sql 2008 R2.

I can login using Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio with the account sa with the new password.

However, when I go to update the servers (sharepoint) that uses the account, they get bad login (bad password) for sa.

I have tried multiple different ways to reset the sa password and restart the service, but so far no luck.

Why is it still giving

I have a list of user accounts that need their password reset to a default password (also users will be required to change the password at first login). Is there a way to reset the password for a list of Active Directory users en-mass? I'd rather not use any third party software. Can I do this in dsa.exe? Or can this be done with a power-shell script?

I am trying to reset the password from the command line using net user admin * but it's giving me a system 5 (Access Denied) error!!!

I'm running version 12.04 LTS, GNU GRUB version 1.99-21 ubuntu 3.1

When I reset user/admin password using the root shell, it says that the password reset was successful, but when I try to exit and normally reboot, the the new password is not recognised by sign on system. Why is it not working?

I had tried method in recovery mode.

passwd myusername

then getting new password I typed the new password twice

passwd:Manipulation Token Authentication Error passwd:password unchanged

Please help me change my password.
