http://askubuntu.com – I face with a big problem , I bought a monitor that it supports at last 1280x960 resolution and i create an application on Ubuntu in 1280x1024 resolution,it takes time to finish it so in this case i should adjust and fit my screen on Ubuntu with this lower resolution, when my system boot via 19 inch monitor that has my suitable resolution , it detects and set this resolution and it comes up , I change monitor with the lower one and it fits screen too but when i reboot system it change setting via the low graphic monitor and it makes trouble for me , so if you know a way to resolve this problem (HowTos)

I am facing this problem of low resolution in Ubuntu 11.10. Optimal resolution of my monitor is 1280x1024, however in Ubuntu I am getting maximum resolution as 1024x768. I did not face this problem with Windows 7 installed earlier on my system.

So I have an Acer x163w widescreen monitor. In monitor setting my Monitor is an unknown. My resolution size is stuck at 1024x768 i believe.

I have tried manually to change the screen resolution and nothing. I am running Ubuntu 12.10 on an Hp Pavillion m7360 Desktop.

Updating the NVidia drivers sends my machine into a storm and things just fall apart until I have to do fresh install.

At work I use a Dell Latitude E4300 with a resolution of 1280x800 and an external monitor with a resolution of 1280x1024. I'm runnin g Natty on it with Gnome 3. Everything is working OK, but the desktop seems to be 1024 pixels high on both screens, so it extends past the bottom of the laptop's screen, which makes using any sort of dock or just a bottom panel pretty annoying.

I have just setup a dual monitor system with a 23 inch LED monitor and a 19 inch LCD monitor. The 23 inch one is connected through HDMI. The 19 inch one is connected to the analogue port of the same GPU (Nvidia Geforce 210).

In Ubuntu 12.10, after installing Nvidia drivers, the 23 inch monitor works fine but the 19 inch monitor got a very low resolution.

I just bought an Intel Atom D410PT motherboard, and installed it into a mini-ITX case. So far, everything works as expected, but the resolution is lower than it should be.

In Displays, I found that it detects two monitors, one Laptop monitor and the desktop one that I plugged into a the machine.

I have a Dell Inspiron 4000, 900 Mhz Pentium III, 192 MB RAM,10.1 GB disk running Lubuntu 12.04. When I start the computer, and I check the display resolution, Monitor Settings claims that the max resolution is 1024x768.

I have Dell 7520 with AMD Raedon 7XXXM graphics card, thankfully, I got to make it work. But the problem now is screen resolution, as I have screen resolution of 1920 X 1080 for 15.6" laptop, which is way too much. In the Display Monitor settings, I cannot change it to whatever I want, only the resolution with 16:9 works perfectly.

I'm using dual monitor on Ubuntu 12.10. Both monitor had same brand and type, the only difference is one using DVI cable and others using RGB. The DVI Monitor resolution are 1280x1024 and the other monitor are 1024x768. How I could change the resolution of my RGB monitor to be the same as DVI monitor.
