I have a problem with the Pulseaudio multiband equalizer: the volume sets at maximum volume when I change the presets (e.g. to the Live equalizer settings). If I am playing something (Rhythmbox, ...), it suddenly starts blasting from the speakers at maximum volume.
This is a relatively new problem - perhaps due to a kernel update??
Hello, since a few weeks my sound volume on Arch is very low but for me it became conscious now. The audio volume is at least half of standard ALSA, possible only a third. When I remove pulseaudio and pulseaudio-alsa and restart the system the volume is right. I use KDE SC 4.8.3 and PulseAudio 2.0 on Linux 3.3.6-1 but I can't say to you when the problem has occurred.
While running XBMC, I can adjust the volume of the XBMC application itself. However, this volume is limited by the current system volume. For example, if the system volume is at 80% and XBMC is at 100%, I am effectively at 80% and cannot go higher.

I recently installed a clean copy of 12.04. So far everything has worked reasonably well, but I have a problem with the volume. Unless I have the volume at 1/4, or above I don't get any sound. Above that the sound control is quite precise, but If I want the volume to be any lower (which I often do), I have to adjust the volume on the individual application I am using.
Hi,
I can not adjust the volume using Fn+F3/F4 keys. When I press it once (for example Fn+F4 in order to increase the volume) it goes slowly all the way till the end (highest volume) and balloon notification blinks as if I was still pressing the button. The same with decreasing the volume. Brightness control works as it should.
My system is updated Ubuntu 9.10
How do you maximize sound volume in Gnome Shell under Ubuntu 11.10?
I have a Macbook, and my sound and volume keys generally work, but even if I use the volume keys to set volume to 100%, the sound is very low. However, if I open the Sound dialog, the "Output Volume" slider goes up to 150%, which allows me to comfortably hear sound.
Is anyone else genuinely annoyed with the fact there is no volume lock option on this device? When I want to lower the volume with the rocker on say the lock screen, only the ringer volume goes down, and I have to click the gear icon to manually adjust the volume for the notificatons/media/etc.
