I'm a developer, not a server admin, so please bear with me!
I've been tasked with checking the installation of some software on a Windows Server 2008 R2 machine in the cloud, within two scenarios:
There is no domain, the software will use local users and groups for authentication
There is a domain, the software will use domain users and groups for authentication
I've done part 1, but I'm puz
I'm currently trying to query a remote Active Directory on a Windows Server 2008 R2.
I have a newly installed TFS 2012 server set up and I am having problems with the synchronisation of Windows Groups (AD Groups).
My domain is called DOMAINA and my service account for TFSAgentJob is DOMAINA\TFS-Service. I have verified with dsquery that the service account can access the Active Directory.
I have sent the following question to stackoverflow website
I have installed Windows server 2008 r2 on a virtual machine, Can I
install Active directory with domain controller + IIS + SQL server on
the same machine?
I'm working at a small company and since I worked tech support about 8 years ago (and have been a Software Engineer for most of the time since then), I'm responsible for all things computer related. I've inherited the current network/server configurations. I'm new to Windows Server 2008 so please be patient with me. I feel like there's an incredibly easy answer to this that I'm just not seeing.
I have two Windows Server 2008 R2 servers which act as both Active Directory primary domain controllers and DNS servers on my network. Both computers have WINS installed and are the primary and secondary DNS servers for all of the computers on the network.
When I enter a URL such as http:// server.mydomain.local, the server's IP resolves properly.
What I want to do is the following:
I have a Windows Server 2008 R2 (DC) with a running Active Directory. I added the role Windows Deployment Services and installed both Windows® Automated Installation Kit (AIK) for Windows® 7 and Microsoft Deployment Toolkit (MDT) 2010 Update 1.
On the other hand I have a Linux Debian 6 server with a LINBO installation.
I have an Active Directory Domain with a Windows 2003 Standard SP2 Server as the DC. When trying to join an additional Windows 2003 Standard SP2 server to the domain I get message "The following error occurred attempting to join the domain 'My Domain'. The RPC Server is unavailable.
The computer is actually added to the Active Directory Computers.
I am unable to promote my newly installed Windows Server 2012 machine to a domain controller.
Joining the domain as a server that is a member of the domain worked fine.
