Netbooks with Google's Android aren't necessarily meeting Acer's expectations.
The Linux-based MeeGo operating system gained traction at Computex, with prototype tablets shown by Wistron, Compal, Quanta, CZC, and others, and Acer announcing it will offer MeeGo on both netbooks and tablets. Meanwhile, Phoronix benchmarked MeeGo for Netbooks and found it to be faster than Ubuntu Netbook Remix, Fedora, and Moblin....
The two Taiwan tigers both have plans to debut new devices running Google’s open-source Chrome OS at next month’s Computex 2010 trade show in Taipei.

One of the benefits of the Android ecosystem is that it invites hardware manufacturers to produce devices at a variety of price points, an invitation not loss on Acer. While many people focus on the high end, top-tier devices, eventually that cutting-edge technology trickles down to eventually become part of the budget tier of devices as we are seeing with some Acer hardware.
