I have such network layout: internet comes true fiber optics to modem. From modem LAN cable goes to router. Since that router wifi signal is weak LAN cable goes to another router from which I connect true wifi.
TL;DR - Modem > router > router with wifi > me.
Browser connects just fine.
The internet indicates that after the 12.04 upgrade, there is a bug involving the constant dropping of wifi signal by network manager. I am having this problem as well, where perhaps once an hour, the wifi suddenly drops off, and network manager searches again for the wifi connection.
Hi,I have ADSL Modem Huawei SmartAX MT882 which has Ethernet as well as USB cable to connect internet. For so long I have been using this Modem using Ethernet cable.
I get my internet from a cable modem thru Comcast. My house has a smart panel with 8 LAN ports, each going to the 8 rooms in my house. The cable modem links directly to an 8-port hub which allows 8 lines to feed each of the 8 ports in the house's smart panel... so every room has a live ethernet wall jack.
In room #1, I have a netgear wifi router connected to the wall jack.
Hi,I have a 9 year old Acer Aspire 1362LC laptop which works fine with Crunchbang 32 stable except the 3G.I upgraded to the 3.2 kernel and all the other packages as my modem would not connect at all with kernel 2.6.I can now connect but if i open iceweasel the network connection is lost and i have to remove the USB modem and insert it again to make a connection. So basically it is unuseable.3G work
I'm running F12 on a Toshiba Satellite laptop. I don't have any problems connecting to eth0 or wlan0 when I'm at work or when connecting to a variety of cable modems, but for some reason I can't connect to AT&T/Bellsouth's dsl modem at my house (can't connect directly, much less through my DI-524 D-Link wifi).
I am using Ubuntu very recently. My DSL connection with the modem is working fine but after certain idle time the modem connection is getting disconnected and I am not getting the icons to reconnect. If I go to System Settings--> Network, it is showing "Network cable is unplugged". It works fine if i reboot. This is a sudden problem and no configuration has been altered.
I have a computer that is connected to the internet via wifi. I then have a ethernet cable coming out from my wifi computer into another computer which has no wifi or place to plug into ethernet.
I have shared the wifi connection to the LAN port, and the computer successfully gets internet. But, on that computer I have a FTP server that I want the wifi network to be able to connect to.
