I have a Windows Server 2003 instance which was once running on physical hardware but now runs on vmware esxi. Disk 0 was once a physical RAID, but is now a vmware virtual hd with a primary partition for the C drive and a second logical drive for the E drive.
Enlarging the VMWare virtual disk is easy, but I'm having trouble extending the E drive.
I'm trying to install Debian or Ubuntu on HP Proliant ML110 G7 server but it doesn't see one RAID 10 logical drive (as I set in BIOS previously) but sees two instead.
RAID SATA Controller is B110i. How to fix this issue when using Debian/Ubuntu distros? And what linux distro supports it from the box withou any additional effort? (thanks in advance)
The controller is an HP Smart Array E500 Controller and the disk array is an HP Smart Array MSA50.
I have the bios boot order set to have the internal RAID 1 array as the first boot choice, then the CD drive as second, then 'Removable Devices' as third. During boot, the screen shows the E500 getting initialized. If I don't have the MSA50 connected, the boot screen then says '0 Logical Drives.
While using windows i changed my hard disk partitions from "Logical Disk" to "Dynamic Disk"..... then i installed Ubuntu in c drive. when i opened ubuntu the contents of C:Drive are shown but i am unable to view the contents of D drive or e drive (both of them are dynamic). Please help.. i tried reinstalling ubuntu quite a number of times which didn't help.
My hard disk has 4 partitions:
System (primary partition)
C:(primary partition 200 GB)
F: (Logical drive 246 GB)
D: recovery(primary partition 20 GB)
Can I install 12.04 by WUBI installation method on the logical drive? If yes, can I shrink the remaining free space in F: drive to make another drive?
When Attempting to Restore Factory Settings (Window Server 2003) from recovery disc, on to a RAID 5 Configuration of 3 discs (note 4th disk died and has been remove and array recreated), i get the error "invalid logical drive configuration has been detected", Im fairly new to the setting up of servers from scratch, have i configured Raid incorrectly?

I am running Ubuntu 9.04, dual-booting with Windows Vista.
My problem is that I insert a blank DVD-R, but it doesn't come up - there is no CD icon that pops up, Brasero asks me to insert a medium, going to Place->Computer and clicking on the CD/DVD Drive yields the message "Unable to mount location; Can't mount file".
I have 2 hard disk in my PC (First one was divided into 3 logical drives C:\, D:\ and E:\ and the secondary Hard disk was divided into 2 logical drives G:\ and H:\ ) The former one was running Windows XP installed in C drive with the FAT32 file system for the former and the latter was in NTFS.
I had some files in G:\ drive which i moved to H:\ drive before installing Ubuntu Desktop 12.04 LTS thro
I added a 3rd drive to my system to use for storage. but ubuntu doesn't see the drive as being attached. The drive shows up in bios and in windows. I even formatted it in windows to see if that may help with no luck.
