I've been trying to isolate the problem, and I think it has to do with gvfs-smb.I am able to access shares via smbclient, and I even tried installing KDE's dolphin, which worked flawlessly as well.I'll see what happens if I use an older version of gvfs-smb.

Hi guysI installed gvfs-smb to access samba shares in Nautilus. Now there is an icon in the "Browse Network" section of Nautilus called "Windows Network". This link works sporadically. Sometimes I open it and no workgroups are present. Sometimes I'll see a workgroup but no shares are available.
Access to samba shares in Gnome 3.6 appears to be broken. It used to be the case that with "connect to server" you could specify credentials such as username, password etc.
I have used my machine to share folders with Samba / Windows before, but it seems to have stoped working. I dont remember changing any samba settings since they were working some time back. Now, my Windows can't access my Arch shares. I noticed I see no Windows machines on my "Network" folder in nautilus not thunar also.
Hello,
When I try to mount a home directory from a Samba File server (FC15), I keep getting a message from Nautilus (on my FC17 machine):
"Unable to mount location: Failed to mount Windows Share"
I can mount other Samba shares with no problems. I do have SELinux disabled. My firewall is allowing Port 139.
Have you read the original post? Because I still want Windows PCs to be able to access my share; they can, all other windows PCs on the network can see my share and browse what is in it fine. That part is working. But my other Linux PC cannot, and THAT is where I am having the problem.

I am attempting to access a Samba share in Thunar using the address "smb://hostname/share", but I can't connect because it does not prompt me for credentials. Is there a way to specify before connecting, or am I missing something? I have gvfs-smb installed on my machine.

Using 12.04 LTS The problem is I can see the shares thru nautilus and with smbclient commands.
When I try to access the shares from my other box I can see the shares but I can't access them as the username/password aren't being accepted.
