70% consumption

http://www.linuxquestions.org – I keep hearing the US economy is 70% consumption. What the hell does that even mean? Does that mean 30% goes into new capital investment? I've seen this in so many articles, and I have written many authors what this means, but no one has answered. (HowTos)

Just curious if anybody else experienced some issues with increased power consumption with the updated kernel 3.9.5 from Slackware current ?

After a clean boot power consumption/internal temperature are in the same levels like with 3.8.x kernel. However after a suspend/resume cycle, powertop shows consumption gets almost doubled (from 8W to 15W).

My laptop has a very high consumption when running on idle (I mean nothing that write on the disk or video etc..). I read on lenovo forums that people could get 10-12W and I can hardly get lower than 20W. My cpufreq is set to powersave and my cpus are always at the lowest scale.

Im looking for a thread, HOWTO or someone that could help me configure my laptop to save some power.

I am experiencing a problem where htop (top too) is incorrectly reporting the memory consumption of a process, in this case the vmware-tools service (highlighted below). I am colorblind and thought I might be mistaking used memory for cache, so I had someone else confirm it.

High battery consumption 11 weeks 6 days ago

Hi, My Nexus 7 yesterday started to discharge very quickly, about 60% while idling at night. CPU monitor shows average CPU Consumption about 50%, but process list doesn't show any running processes, how is this even possible?. I am running Ubuntu Server 12.04 on an HP Mini 311. It has an Atom 270, 3GB ram, NVIDIA ION graphics. When running windows 7 with the screen off and no programs running the power consumtion from the wall was measured as 7-9W. With Ubuntu server running, with ACPI, powertop options good. the power consumption is 17-20W.

Has anyone noticed bigger power consumption (reduced battery time)/temperatures on laptops (preferably with i915 gpu) with kernel > 3.7.3 ? Is it only my idea?
