I got this new Dell Latitude E6420, I installed ubuntu 12.10 which works fine except for one issue. After I press the power button it hangs at a Dell splash screen and doesn't do anything. If I press F12 (before it hangs) to get in the boot selection and select one of the UEFI boot options all is well.
The problem of course is that it's a bit annoying to do this every time I boot.
Hi everyone.
Yesterday, on my dell latitude E4300, i updated ubuntu to 12.04 LTS and ever since i dont have sound anymore.
when i go to sound properties, i can see only one device and sound test do not work.
when i go to the command line and type alsamixer, the command returns nothing, as if alsa was not installed.
Normally I've pretty good at googling problems but this time I'm stumped, although I have to admit I'm not too hot with linux.
i have Dell Latitude 5420 laptop and yesterday i have istalled 11.10 Ubuntu. All instalation process was done on battery power, so there was no problem on performance. Today i have plugged in my computer and tried to turn on Ubuntu and there is a problem.
When computer runs on battery power performace is perfect, but when i plug to charge battery all system slows down and mouse moves very slovly.
Hi there,
My laptop LG E500 L.AP55P, going on ~5 years now, and is doing remarkably fine, apart from the battery stuff.
The battery indicator is broken most of the time. Sometimes I get the actual indication of the time remaining, but the majority of the time it reads a charge cycle, although the power is not plugged in, or states 0% battery.
DELL Latitude E5530 Laptop Battery Tips :
Do not short-circuit . A short-circuit may cause severe damage to your laptop battery.
Store it in a cool and dry place (The suitable temperature is about 15°C). Before storage, you should confirm your DELL Latitude E5530 battery is not fully depleted.
I have converted my old Dell Latitude D410 laptop to a server for tinkering. It is running an updated Debian Squeeze (6) with a Xen enabled kernel (I want to toy with virtual machines later on). I am running it 'headless' via an ethernet connection.
I am struggling to enable Wake On Lan for the box.
Hello,
I have recently installed ubuntu 11.10 on by Dell Latitude D610 - If I walk away for 5 minutes it goes back. I touch the mouse it comes back to full light, but ever so slowly goes dim, finally going black again. From this it will not come back, other than shut down and restart.
this fix for Dell Inspiron 1501 log spam works for Dell Vostro 1000
