Hi,
I've been trying to get my graphic card working under ubuntu and opensuse but to no avail.
First, i tried through additional drivers, but after installation it keeps saying "this driver is activated but not currently in use". That is 3D-accelerated proprietary graphics driver for NVIDIA cards.
The program says:
"No proprietary drivers are in use on this system"
But it doesn't say if it is talking about graphical drivers only or what.
Then, it lists two drivers:
NVIDIA accelerated graphics driver (version 173).
NVIDIA accelerated graphics driver (version current) [recomended]
Both have exactly the same description. What is the difference between them, then??.
So I was recently trying to fix some minor video problems I was having on 12.04, and in the process I foolishly installed an NVIDIA driver. Previously I was using the nouveau driver, and loving every minute of it, but now I can't seem to turn it back on.
I have Ubuntu 12.04 on a notebook HP Elibook 8540w, working with the recommended additional NVidia driver. The graphic card is a QUADRO FX 1800M.
Hello I'm trying to install nvidia driver. I have GEFORCE GT 520M GPU. The driver from Nvidia website I'm install like that:./Nvidia-Linux-x86_64-310.19.run -a --opengl-libdir=/usr/lib --force-tls=newwhen I'm launching an Xorg the "Device not found" error appears.I have insert BusId PCI:1:0:0 line in my xorg.conf and it's launched.
Hi guys,
I'm new to Ubuntu but I just took a course in Unix so I know a little bit about command line.
I'm running Ubuntu 11.04 and there is a screen flicker that occurs on various sections of the screen at random times roughly spaced a couple minutes apart. I think it could be an issue with the graphics driver.
I installed Ubuntu 12.04 onto my Lenovo T61 and it came up on my external monitor fine during the install and after logging in and using the OS for a while. Then I saw a message about "Additional Drivers".
After googling and trying some things (http://askubuntu.com/questions/20267...-work-in-12-10), when I went to Software Sources>Additional Drivers, I saw that the driver I had selected was: "Using NVIDIA binary Xorg driver, kernel module and VDPAU library from nvidia-304 (open source)."
I didn't know Nvidia had an open source driver for Linux.
Ubuntu 12.04, Graphics Card: GeForce-4 MX 420,
From Nvidia Website, Downloaded NVIDIA-Linux-x86-96.43.18.pkg1.run
Moved it from Downloads Folder to "Nvidia Folder"
I searched for "Additional Drivers"
I got a response that Nvidia-(Current) was "Activated But Not Currently in Use"
6a. Did I download it incorrectly?
6b. Did I Move, Open or Install it incorrectly?
