[64 bit] Help with partitioning 64 bit Ubuntu Server 12.04 hard drive?

http://ubuntuforums.org – Hello, Although I am very familiar with partitioning regular desktop installations, using separate partitions for swap, root, and home... plus multi-boot machines where some partitions need to be extended partitions, I have never partitioned a hard drive for a server. I want to give this my best shot up front, as it's something worth doing right up front... I am in no mood to go through the hassles of making a mistake that I notice in 3 months! So... for a small home business server with a 2TB hard drive, I want my end result to function as: Print server File server Multi-media server Potent (Hardware)

I partitioned my hard drive with two separate partitions for Windows and Ubuntu. Now I want to repartition my hard-drive and I'm not really sure on how to do it.

I found some programs and tools to handle the partitions but not any info on whether it's possible to merge the two seperated partitions again. Is there a way?

So, this is my first time installing Ubuntu on my hard drive, and I'm running into some problems.

Until a couple of hours ago, I had 4 partitions in my hard drive:

XP, Vista and 7 installations, plus a data partition.

I backep up the XP and Vista partitions which weren't of any use lately, and booted a Live-USB with Ubuntu 12.04.

On the "Install 12.04 LTS" partition manager thingy I deleted

I recently converted an Acer Aspire One to a tiny server for file backups. The SSD in the laptop had died so I removed it and installed Ubuntu Linux Server 9.10 on a new hard drive inside a USB enclosure.

I am trying to set up a storage server which has a hardware raid controller and 15x3 TB harddrives.
