Hi there,
being quite new to Ubuntu I encountered the following issue:
On Ubuntu 12.04.1 pressing the physical power button on the machine shuts down the pc. However, this only works if a user is logged in, i.e. there's no effect of power button presses at the login screen.
Is this the intended behavior?
Sometimes my computer shuts down unexpectedly, usually when some process is taxing the CPU.
Hi,
I have a problem with my computer occasionally restarting on shutdown.
Sometimes when i shutdown it reboots.
Some are fairly obvious. Specifically, I am referring to:
-h halt or power off after shutdown
-H halt after shutdown (implies -h)
-P power off after shutdown (implies -h)
Isn't halting or powering off kind of expected when you're shutting down?
This machine (32-bit) require a bit of a workaround: needed to log into unity once, then switch back to GNOME, and voila. That's fine...
My other machine (64-bit) cannot get past the Plymouth (?) splash screen. I have a mouse cursor, the purplish-orangish splash screen, but nothing else.
I've removed Windows 7 from my Dell Latitude E6500 laptop & installed Ubuntu 10.10 which worked great out of the box but when I shut the laptop lid, the machine goes to sleep but when I try to use it again, I can't wake the laptop up from sleep.
Hi there,
Offlate I installed F11 i586 on my laptop. F11 shares the hard disk with Vista Home Premium 32-bit. The problem is that when running F11 (or even Ubuntu), my system shut off suddenly(not a normal OS shut down, but a sudden power off without any warning). This could have been a hardware trouble(heating) but it doesn't happen with Vista.
Machine specifications:
I am having an unusual problem with my laptop.
Dell Latitude D630
4GB RAM
80 GB Hard Drive
Quadro NVS 135M
Ubuntu 12.04 LTS
GNOME Classic
mmmmmm... I think that's about it.
Anyway, when shutting down I seems to get hung up on a blank screen and never finishes the shutdown procedure.
Hi, got a laptop booting OK on mains power but to blank, dark screen on battery. I have to open a terminal with Ctrl+alt+Fkeys and shut down, then boot again on power. Once booted, shutting off power has no effect, machine works OK. How should I troubleshoot this?
HP tx1219us, AMD Turion 64, Nvidia (driver updated).
