I am a newbie and I need some help. I want to create a virtual network infrastructure that is sharing the resources of 3 physical servers. I want to create a resource pool, containing my three physical servers. My virtual network is going to have only 6 VMs. I will be using Microsoft Server 2008 standard edition. I am wondering what software should I use to achieve this?

I've been reading a lot about high availability virtualization, either via Hyper-V or VMWare. In that context, essentially high availabliity means that the VM is hosted by a closter of physical servers (nodes), so if one of the physical servers goes down, the VM can still be served by other physical servers.

What would be the preferred solution for hosting several physical servers behind a NAT with one external IP? I know Apache can reverse proxy HTTP but if i want to do the same with FTP? Squid seems to be mentioned a lot but i am a little confused if it will work with my set up: A few physical boxes running Ubuntu with Virtualmin and they are all behind a NAT.
