I have a Samsung CLX 3175N network capable color laser printer/scanner which was sold as being Linux compatible. Whereas the printer undeed works in the network. it has been impossible up to now to get the scanner working under Ubuntu (safe for using Windows XP running in Virtualbox on the Ubuntu client), but that is not my ubderstanding of Linux compatibility.
So having recently set up my server (including some disk space and ushare, and an additional laserjet printer) I was wondering if anyone had any experience of putting a multifunction printer into an ubuntu server and adding it locally (to the server) then to the networked computers....I know this printer works perfectly (the scan too!) when plugged directly into a machine's USB
Okay so I am unsure what standard ubuntu has that Kubuntu doesnt but I havb e never been able to get my printer/scanner to work under Kubuntu 14.04 64bit LTS.
I have a HP Envy 4200 that works overall but in Ubuntu, not its KDE cdounterpart thus why i am using Ubuntu instead.
Now I could install kde desktop to fix this issue as I really dont want to be using unity here soon as it will be a mess b
I have used an old HP scanner for an embarrassing number of years (hey, it still works). However, I don't use it often, so I've left it connected to an ancient Pentium machine running XP that I leave in a deserted corner of the basement, just for compatibility. I've never tried to run a scanner in Linux.
I just bought a Canon Pixma 722 multifunction printer / scanner / fax.
I need to hook up my Brother 2240D laser printer. First thing I did was just boot into F17 (64-bit) and turn the USB printer on. Fedora recognized and installed something but printing from gedit gave me no output.
Hey guys, I need some help getting my multifunction printer/scanner (Samsung SCX-3405W) working properly with Fedora 19 (Gnome). I have it connected via USB. I know for a fact it works because this person got it working with both printing and scanning functions.
As he did, I installed the splix package using yum, but the scanner still isn't detected.
I currently have a Brother MFC 240c printer. Best I ever had. But it finally died. Could only use it on my Windows pc though. Now I want a new multifunction printer that will work with Ubuntu 9.04 without having to mess with all that cups and library crap. I have never gotten a printer to work that didn't work out of the box and I am now to old to try again.
