I have had a problem with configuring Virtual Box to let XP use RS232, which is connected by USB to RS232 convertor.
I used command:
dmesg | grep tty
[ 7682.216606] pl2303 ttyUSB0: pl2303 converter now disconnected from ttyUSB0
[ 7687.597459] usb 6-2: pl2303 converter now attached to ttyUSB0
I am developing a C program to communicate with a power meter which supports RS485 Serial Communication using modbus protocol.The device has a 9-pin port available on it.I am using serial to usb convertor (pl2303 converter from Prolific Technology Inc) on my laptop to connect with the device.
I am able to communicate with the device,but the response data i get from the device is nowhere near

I have a dual boot to get back to using Windows 7 / Ubuntu 12.04 because I'm working toward getting a pcDuino board with Ubuntu 12.10.
One of my three displays has a Sabrent usb-1612 which works well in Windows 7.

I have 3 USB 3.0 docking stations. 2 Xigmatek single drive units and a Sabrent Ec-HDD2 dual drive unit with cloning capability.Each has a Seagate 3TB drive formatted in GPT mode. However I cannot access the drives from the Xigmatek unit in the Sabrent or vice versa. Also the drives will all show up as unallocated space in the disk manager.
I am using Aten UC232A Converter to communicate with my micro-controller device using 3 wire interface ie txd, rxd and ground. Though the converter gets detected and driver loaded in my suse11.2. The operation does not work. following are the logs.
