Hi
I have just installed xubuntu on my laptop and I am unable to adjust the brightness of the screen....at the moment it is very bright!!!
The laptop is an Acer 5755G core i7 nvidia gt540m
The function keys (FN+arrows) bring up the image of the sun and the slider moves, but the screen brightness doesn't actually change.
I am trying to setup my Thinkpad T420 with xmonad as window manager and with as little gnome as possible. If I launch gnome-settings-manager all my hotkeys (disable touchpad, volume up/down, brightness up/down mute etc) works and sleep when closing lid works.
Hello, the volume and brightness hotkeys on my thinkpad edge have stopped working since I installed Fedora 17 (I have updated to the latest release). I have tried "xev | grep keycode --line-buffered" in terminal, however pressing the volume controls (function 1-3) and brightness buttons (function 7-8) return nothing.
Could someone offer some assistance please?
Hi,
I have an ADVENT 8117 laptop with Ubuntu 10.04
The problem is, if i use the fn + F5 and F6 to turn volume up and down, the volume either goes max or mute, and the notification bar seems to jump and flash until the laptop is restarted.
When this happens, i also cannot use any applet icons eg; sound, network. It also stops me from using the applications menu.
Lenovo Thinkpad X200sFirst of all, the screen brightness buttons (up = fn+Home, down=fn+End) function just right. No problem there. The actual brightness on my screen goes up and down as it ought to.
I don't think that this is just a Gnome issues, but I'm not sure.
I have Japanese Sony VAIO VPCCB series laptop. I'm dual booting Windows 7 and UbuntuGnome.
My problem is using the Fn key with the Function keys to use the multimedia features.
Hello all,Before you lambaste me, I've done a fair bit of research on this and have been able to find little. Of course, I may have missed it.So I have #! 11 64-bit on a Dell Latitude E6410. Seems to be running well I have pretty much everything working with the exception of the keyboard audio controls.
Hi,
I can not adjust the volume using Fn+F3/F4 keys. When I press it once (for example Fn+F4 in order to increase the volume) it goes slowly all the way till the end (highest volume) and balloon notification blinks as if I was still pressing the button. The same with decreasing the volume. Brightness control works as it should.
My system is updated Ubuntu 9.10
I have a Samsung NF210 and while the Fn-Brightness keys are registering (that is the brightness pop-up with the amount of brightness bar is showing and changing) the actual brightness is not changing. Volume works fine.I have tried addingacpi_osi=linuxto grub as suggested by another post with a similar, but not exact, laptop.
