Hi All, I'm new but not that new to linux. However, when it gets to build/run edit File for graphic card i usually suck.

I went to the ASUS website and they gave me a .run for the graphic driver.

I have no clue how to make this work. I'm trying to use tutorials i find but none of them works A1.

I've tried almost everything to correct this. My pc is a Dell XPS 7100 with Ubuntu 11.10

Normally, my soundcard is detected and the sound works good. Lately I've installed Skype. As soon as it was installed the sound option wheren't there anymore. No audio card was detected ! When I delete Skype (or any other softphone application), the sound card is detected again.

Hi everyone, not sure where else to turn.I have a monitor that has built in speakers and a webcam (an asus, if wondering).I've tried everything to get audio working over HDMI (it is detected by alsa, but not pulse audio), and I can't raise the audio volume from alsamixer, and it is NOT muted. It is detected in paman as an INPUT device, not output device.

I tried to to use the ACPI call method ( http://linux-hybrid-graphics.blogspo...tch-onoff.html ) using 'echo '\_SB.PCI0.PEGR.GFX0._OFF' > /proc/acpi/call'.

As it has been reported, this works in switching off the graphic card but 10 seconds later the laptop fan starts spinning at full speed.

Also I'm not savvy enough to get 'asus switcheroo' to work...

I need to buy new computers for the office, all running ubuntu 10.04 or 11.10, whichever works.

I am looking at a asus mobo with the AMD870 northbridge and 850 sounthbridge. Can anyone tell me if that is buggy or not?

Currenly, I'm dual booting Windows 7 and Ubuntu 12.10 64bit on my ASUS K55VD.

I can't or won't completely ditch Windows 7 unless the video card is installable on my Ubuntu partition.

I can't make the best of my laptop or use it's full features if video card is not detected and installed.

Last time, on my old laptop, ASUS K43SV, it's video card is also not detected on older versions of Ubu

It's 2 year I've started using ubuntu. In ubutnu 10.04 until ubuntu 11.10 anything was Ok with my Graphic card, But when I migrate to ubuntu 12.04 I had a corruption in my graphic card and I paid expert to repair it. It was Ok with ubuntu 12.04 in continuous but when I upgraded to ubuntu 12.10 I'm never able to install my nvidia.
