I recently put together a new build. Today I tried to install my Asus Essence STX sound card but it's not being detected. I know it works because I was using it in my prior PC. I tried re-seating it several times and made sure the molex connector was in properly.
I have an Asus CG5290 and the northbridge heatsink popped off, right after that it shut down. Turned it back on and it said the northbridge was hot then started it again and the other was saying hot too. It has some sort of pins & springs that hold the northbridge on the board which broke off, I assume melted. I put it back on and then started it up again and the fans just keep running high.
I've tried almost everything to correct this.
My pc is a Dell XPS 7100 with Ubuntu 11.10
Normally, my soundcard is detected and the sound works good.
Lately I've installed Skype. As soon as it was installed the sound option wheren't there anymore. No audio card was detected !
When I delete Skype (or any other softphone application), the sound card is detected again.
I have an Asus Laptop with hybrid graphic card. Several days ago I installed Nvidia driver and now for time to time I change my graphic card preference(by Nvidia-Prime) between Intel and Geforce. I want to see is there any other way to make this automatic to not spend so much time for selecting the graphic card?
I've tried Bumblebee, but I really have problem on working with it.
