Hi, I have a Sony Vaio Laptop, Model VGN-FE880E. After installing Linux Mint 11 (Katya), the volume control buttons above my keyboard are useless. I believe it should be noted that, while the mute button also does nothing, it toggles the mute light that's built in to the button on and off. Also, the volume and mute buttons did work in Natty.

I have an ADVENT 8117 laptop with Ubuntu 10.04
The problem is, if i use the fn + F5 and F6 to turn volume up and down, the volume either goes max or mute, and the notification bar seems to jump and flash until the laptop is restarted.
When this happens, i also cannot use any applet icons eg; sound, network. It also stops me from using the applications menu.
Hi there,I'm running Statler on my Compaq Presario CQ56-103SG more or less compatible. Until yesterday. I tried some Picturemanagement-programs like Digikam(KDE), F-Spot and Darktable. Also I did sudo apt-get upgradeNo my problem is, the speakers won't work anymore.
I'm new to linux/ubuntu and I have encountered a little problem: After installing x2x my laptop keyboard no longer works. The x2x system worked great - I was able to control my laptop from the desktop which was ssh'd into it... but the keyboard on the laptop no longer works. I have a dual-boot, and when I boot into lion (it's an early 2008 macbook) the keyboard works fine.
I have this issue on my Acer 3820TG laptop. When using the fn key to disable the touch pad, the keyboard stops working as well until you restart the laptop. Using the keys to re enable the touch pad works, but the keyboard still doesn't work until the reboot. I have reinstalled and get the same issue, and linux Mint also gets the same issue.
