I am using Ubuntu 11.10, and my webcam seems to be giving problems. The actual webcam works (at least when I use Cheese), when I click webcam I can see myself in it. However when I try video chatting with someone on gmail they cannot see me. It gives them a black screen. But I can see myself and them.
I have a Manhattan FUN!CAM that worked on Windows Vista with a Trust Webcam 14823 driver from Windows Update. I have the disc that came with the webcam that works with the webcam on Windwos XP. I have a question, how can I have my Manhattan FUN!CAM work on Ubuntu 12.04 LTS?

Can anyone suggest a modestly priced webcam compatible with Ubuntu which I can use with Skype? I have a Winbook webcam which works well with Windows 7 but, not surprisingly, does not work with Ubuntu. (At least, I have not been able to make it work)
I got a laptop (core 2 duo, 2 GB ram) without a webcam and using Ubuntu v. 12.10 OS. As I wish to make skype video calls with my Family I wish to buy a webcam. I just bought a webcam Microsoft HD-3000 and ubuntu doesn't automatically detect the webcam.
Can someone point me to a resource where I can download the driver? A tutorial on how to install and configure the webcam would be really usefull?
