There are a lot of options under Gnome 3.6's Keyboard Layout tool. 1. Load Keyboard Layout  (Super, then type 'Keyboard Layout' ENTER). (Super + Type 'Keyboard Layout' ENTER).2. Click on the Layouts tab.3. Click the Options button (lower right)4.

Had something similar happen to me today between en(UK) and de. I reassigned the shortcut (ALT+shift in my case) and things worked again as advertised. I did not fart around with the layouts themselves.

cinnamon keyboard layout 16 weeks 6 days ago

I've just installed cinnamon and looks great. Except I can't see where to set the keyboard layout. There doesn't seem to be a keyboard layout icon on the panel and if I go into cinnamon settings->keyboard all I get are a couple of tabs saying Typing and Keyboard Shortcuts but no keyboard layout? And ideas please?

Same here, and yes, those packages seem to be the problem. As discussed in the following thread, a possible workaround is to downgrade those packages and wait for Gnome... 3.6 https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?pid=1175368

Also, if you want to get the most out of your 4 GB, and not just the 3.21 or whatever, I highly recommend (if you have the time to reinstall) installing the X86_64 Arch.
