3.4.0-1 kernel panic on laptop

http://forums.fedoraforum.org – vaio vgn-n365e,intel core duo, 2gig ram, intel 945 mobility graphics, intel wireless,dual boot w/win7 Did a clean install using fc17 xfce spin. Earlier kernels work fine, but this latest creates a kernel panic. I've reinstalled the kernel but same problem perists. Tried the pae version, but the same pattern with non-pae. Dmesg nor /var/log/messages give no clue. The screen goes through hardware devices, then I see the kernel start, helper, code, eip,cr2, then right after "end trace" it goes to kernel panic, not syncing: attempted to kill init! I suppose I could wait until the (HowTos)

Hello just upgraded to kernel 3.4.3-1.fc17.x86_64 and it went panic after 2 minutes.

I did a yum upgrade from Fedora 11 to Fedora 12. I can still use the Fedora 11 kernel just fine. When I try to boot with the Fedora 12 kernel, it failed during udev with "Kernel Panic. Not syncing. Out of memory and no killable processes."

I updated Ubuntu and when I rebooted, it won't boot. I get a black screen with the error Kernel panic - not syncing:Attempted to kill init

I use Ubuntu 12.04, my linux-image is 3.2.0-33-generic-pae,recovery mode goes into the same error (Kernel panic - not syncing:Attempted to kill init) and Ubuntu upgraded my previous linux versions as well and they all go into that same error.

I have a Dell laptop with 64-bit Fedora 17 installed on it. I casually updated my system last night using yum. A new kernel was available: 3.5.4-1. After what appeared to be a successful update, I restarted my computer.

Updated recently to kernel 3.4 and getting kernel panic on boot.
