hmmm. so I plugged in a TV with an HDMI cable and got video! awesome! but oh no, there's no sound!
This is from a laptop with an ATI Radeon card built in. Analog audio works and plays out from the laptop's speakers. But selecting the HDMI card doesn't play audio out the TV speakers. I know the hardware is good, because it works in Ubuntu, and so linux can do it.
Hi,
I am having some problems getting sound to work over the HDMI interface on my laptop. I have tried going to System/Preferences/Sound to try and change the settings to HDMI but there are no HDMI options to choose from. How do I find out if HDMI sound is supported by the nvidia drivers I am using? I had a look at this thread;
I've got a brand new build and an updated install of 12.04. I was having trouble with installing Radeon drivers from the 'Additional Drivers' application, so I followed the directions here: http://wiki.cchtml.com/index.php/Ubuntu_Precise_Installation_Guide to download and install the drivers and Catalyst directly from AMD. Video works fine now, but I'm having no luck with audio.

Hi,
The MK802 / 808 mini pcs have HDMI output for both audio and video. I have a TV without HDMI. It has DVI and RCA. I can get video by using hdmi with a hdmi->dvi connector, but have no idea how to get audio. Is there a solution?
Thanks!
I'm having problems trying to get my HDMI audio output to work correctly. By default, with or without and external monitor connected, the audio is heard from my notebook speakers (or from the headphones, when I plug them in).

Hi. I've done some poking around and while I found some threads with HDMI audio issues, none seemed exactly like what I'm experiencing, so I wanted to ask for some help.
My system is a: MythTV Box running 12.04 / .25myth. It's connected to an HDMI receiver that then transmits both audio and video to a 47" 1080p tv.
