I am able to connect to my home network, but Firefox and Chrome will not connect to the internet. How can I fix this? I am using a wireless laptop. I have troubleshooted that my network is working, and I am currently using my home network with a Windows laptop I borrowed from work. Both browsers worked previously from home and the public network at the library. I am very new to Linux.
My home wireless network is listed as hidden network and every time I log in, I have to connect it manually. It is not listed in wireless connection list. I can only connect it with selecting "Connect to Hidden Wireless Network" option. I didn't have any problems with 12.04.
My laptop model is : Dell Inspiron n5110
OS: 12.10 - 64 bit
I'm on a 2011 Lenovo Thinkpad T420i with a Realtek RTL8188CE WiFi adapter. Here's the scenario:
I pop in the Ubuntu LiveCD to install.
I have a Toshiba Satellite L645 laptop. I installed Ubuntu 12.04 LTS alongside with Windows 7. At first, everything worked fine. But today my Ubuntu system has a problem. It detects every wireless network in the area except my own. I found that my wireless network is 'hidden', although I didn't do anything with its settings at all.
Hi
I'm unable to connect my office laptop to my home wireless network using KNetworkManager. When I click on the greyed-out world, the network manager cannot see the network at all (i.e. the signal strength is 0%). The laptop is in the same room as the router, and my other laptop (running openSUSE 11.2) works OK.
Running Maverick 64-bit. I previously had my wireless network set to WEP encryption, and when I'd start my laptop it would automatically connect to the network (with a hidden SSID) and everything was great. In order to use my work laptop at home, I had to change to WPA2 encryption.
Good day all! I hope you are doing good. I have performed a WUBI installation of 12.04 on my HP G62 laptop, which has an Atheros AR9285 wireless chipset. Everything works fine with my wired network connection. However, wireless is unable to connect to my wifi network.
In my home network, I have wireless router and DHCP server running on it. When I try to connect with my laptop to my home network, I get following IP address:
169.254.76.100
255.255.0.0
That is odd, because my DHCP address scope is starting from 192.168.1.100 to 192.168.1.199. When I restart my wireless network card, same problem.
When I run ipconfig in Command Prompt,I get following results.
Hi
I have an IBM R51 laptop which I would like to run on ubuntu (as I'm currently running Maverick on my Desktop and like it very much)
I have run the liveCD and everything runs OK except for the wireless network, which although it detects my wireless network, will not let me connect.
