11.2: KDE Apps Excruciatingly Slow after upgrade

http://forums.opensuse.org – Hi! I've just upgraded from 11.1 to 11.2. My KDE apps (Firefox, Yast, Kmail) are now excruciatingly slow - particularly Kmail which is now virtually unusable. Before the upgrade on my 3GB RAM laptop the response was great - so something has broken during the upgrade process. What is interesting is when I open in Failsafe - the speed is fine. My thoughts are maybe graphics card acceleration but why would it be ok in failsafe? Not really sure where to start looking here. Any help greatly appreciated. (Distributions)

Hi,

Have upgraded from 10.04, and i don't like the way 12.04 'works' as a desktop.

There is no taskbar as before. The apps are not all set out neatly from top menus. If you have many Firefox windows open, you have to click the app icon twice to see other windows. If I'm in an app like KMail, I can't get to the other windows within KMail, unless I go click the KMail icon again, ..

I've got a graphic user interface problem after upgrading from 11.2 to 11.3.

I use kmail in kubuntu 8.04. Whenever I have a wired connection, kmail checks email and sends messages just fine. However, any time I switch to wireless, kmail just says "No new messages," without even checking. I am also unable to send email over wireless.

I've tried searching the internet for people with similar problems, but to no avail.

I used a laptop Toshiba satellite amd. After upgrade from 12.04 to 13.04 it got very slow to start.

Hi, I upgraded to Ubuntu 10.10 from 10.04 today. However when I rebooted after the upgrade, I was a presented with the text mode instead of the regular graphical mode. I tried to do sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg, but still I couldn't log into graphical mode. Then I copied the xorg.conf.failsafe to /etc/Xorg/xorg.conf and did a startx.

I just upgraded from fedora 15 to fedora 16, and kmail won't send emails anymore. kmail does not even report any errors, despite the notification for failed sending being set to showing a message in a popup. I don't know if the problem is my password (probably not, since I can log in to the website), the authentication method, the port, or something else.

After yesterday upgrade when I am try to start rekonq or dolphin or anything it so not start. If I start them through terminal nothing happen. And kickoff does not open. Only apps which start on login work. Any suggestions?I hope I puted post to the right section.

My upgrade manager prompted me for an upgrade to 12.10 from 12.04. So, clicked on upgrade. It has been 4+ hours now and the system is still trying to upgrade. The progress bar is still at around 10%. So, it may take more than 24 hours to upgrade. This compared to a clean build which might have taken less than an hour.

Well I purposefully never upgraded my laptop (Thinkpad R40, with the card in the topic) mainly because I had the compiz working fine. I decided that I was going to go ahead with the upgrade though, mainly because I am in that kind of a mood, heh.
