So I updated to ICS few weeks ago but now i cannot connect to wifi hotspots.
I generally use connectify to make my laptop as wifi hotspot, to which my other devices, including phone, connect. On gingerbread, i was able to connect to this laptop wifi, but now i cannot. It shows in the available network but wen i click connect, nothing happens (it doesnt connect), no erro rmessages.
Introduction
I was in a situation the other day, where I needed to connect my iPod Touch to the internet but there was no wifi available so I think about using my 3G data plan.
I have performed a WUBI installation of 12.04 on my HP G62 laptop, which has an Atheros AR9285 wireless chipset. Everything works fine with my wired network connection.
However, wireless is unable to connect to my wifi network. I enter the WPA2 key and then it attempts to connect, but eventually comes back, asking for the WPA2 key again, as if it was not good.
Say my laptop is connected to a WiFi hotspot. Is it possible to simultaneously create an ad-hoc network for that same laptop, so I can connect my phone to my laptop instead of directly to the WiFi hotspot?
The wifi reciever in my laptop is much stronger than in my phone, that's why I'd like to see if this is possible.
I've just upgraded one of my systems from 12.04 to 12.10. Now I can't connect on that system beyond my local network. Connections within the local network seem to work fine, and I can make nonlocal connections from other machines (like the one I'm sending this post from). I suspect that some routing information has been messed up, but I don't know where to look for it.
hello. this is my first time posting in a forum, sorry if i'm being stiff. i'll try to post as much information as necessary and make clear my objective. also, as to my level of intellect with respect to linux, i hopefully see myself as leaving the newbie stage.
i have two computers:
- one is my desktop, running ubuntu.
Strange situation.
Have a laptop with Ubuntu 12.04.2 which can connect to any Wifi network but the network created on a Mac (40 bits WEP).
And OTOH, everything (but Ubuntu) can connect to the Mac wifi network (namely other Apple stuff + even windows).
- Does Ubuntu choke on a WEP 40b wifi?
I am a ubuntu newbie.I have a hp dm1 laptop with Ralink RT5390 wifi card. It has the ability to connect on wifi direct with my nexus 7 in windows while using latest drivers located at mediatek site. But i am unable to use wifi direct in ubuntu. I found wpa2_supplicant supports this and installed the same. but still wifi direct is not functioning.
Hello friends is there any way to increase the WiFi connectivity?? I'm currently using Real ICS lite r4 and kernal panic.
My friend uses the laptop's WiFi greatly all the time but my st15i can't even connect to the WiFi.. I thought laptops have high connectivity than mobile but his Samsung galaxy ace also connects to WiFi and he can browse with ease(though he can't download).
