xterm does not open in home folder, instead opens in Documents folderview story

http://www.linuxquestions.org – Hello, xterm, when launched via Alt+F2, and yeahconsole (a quake-like drop down console built upon xterm) open into my documents folder (~/Documents) instead of home (~). This is a minor irritation, but an irritation nonetheless. Everything I read online says xterm should open to my home folder - any idea why it might not be, where a setting might need to be changed? Is SELinux really useful for a desktopview story

http://www.linuxquestions.org – I have been using Fedora for about two years. I love it except one thing: I can not get used to SELinux. SELinux in Fedora evolves rapidly and it is not uncommon that an updated SELinux breaks up other things. So here is my question: is it really useful for a desktop which doesn't have a whole bunches of services running except OpenSSH? I am deciding whether to disable SELinux for good. (HowTos)

http://www.linuxquestions.org – The problem with ssh is that it's a live connection; rubbish over a slow or packet loss full connection like satelite. Surely there's got to be something out there that allows you to compose the command you want and then submit it in one go with the return key? (HowTos)
