[ubuntu] Why only 3 GB on 32-bit Ubuntu?view story

http://ubuntuforums.org – I wonder why Ubuntu 32-bit only can address 3GB memory? 2^32=4294967296 and my 4 GB DDR2 should be visable in the system. I do not use my onboard gfx and I have a PCI-E gfx. I also with help of FREEDOS ugraded BIOS on my P6NGM-FD to the later version because the version before did only report 3GB when you have 4GB RAM. Another question about upgrade to 64-bit. (Hardware)
