Is SELinux really useful for a desktopview story

http://www.linuxquestions.org – I have been using Fedora for about two years. I love it except one thing: I can not get used to SELinux. SELinux in Fedora evolves rapidly and it is not uncommon that an updated SELinux breaks up other things. So here is my question: is it really useful for a desktop which doesn't have a whole bunches of services running except OpenSSH? I am deciding whether to disable SELinux for good. (HowTos)

ssh - compose the line locally and then submit the command? (for slow connections)view story

http://www.linuxquestions.org – The problem with ssh is that it's a live connection; rubbish over a slow or packet loss full connection like satelite. Surely there's got to be something out there that allows you to compose the command you want and then submit it in one go with the return key? (HowTos)

IPV6 Support Slows Opera and Firefoxview story

http://www.linuxquestions.org – Support for ipv6 keeps being put into the kernel and now into browsers. I blacklisted ipv6 in Slackware and that solved the slow internet response until I updated to the latest Opera and Firefox browsers. Both were horribly slow again. Firefox could be reconfigured to kill ipv6 by running about:config as a url and disabling ipv6. The new Opera 11 is different. (HowTos)

http://crunchbanglinux.org – IMO KDE has some of the best native apps ... and as a bonus, the new QT4 versions play beautifully in a non-kwin/non-plasma environment. A couple days ago I added K3b, kolourpaint, kate, dolphin, klipper, and konsole to Crunchbang; with dependencies just over 100 packages. (HowTos)
