Static vs dynamic header/footer on websitesview story

http://ubuntuforums.org – Hello, I am trying to decide if I want to include a dynamic footer on my website. It currently uses a static one, but I was thinking that I could cut some of the info out from the main pages and only display it in specific areas of the site. Are there any pros/cons to this approach? Thanks, Charles (Hardware)

How long will it be before the majority of GTK2 apps move to GTK3?view story

http://ubuntuforums.org – I am really loving Gnome3. I know there are themes that include both GTK2 and GTK3 versions but i do really like the default Adwaita theme. Anyone know when programmes are likely to move on to GTK3? Also what about Firefox and Libreoffice integrating? I know they aren't GTK but with GTK2 they did fit in really well. Also really loving the mock ups of Gnome over the last while. (Hardware)

[ubuntu] Regular hangs with compizview story

http://ubuntuforums.org – I have a Dell Inspiron E1705, with the builtin i915 chipset video controller. Ever since I upgraded to 11.10, I daily experience hangs in compiz (sometimes 3-4 times a day). The most common time it happens is when utilizing the launcher bar. The solution I have found is to switch to a virtual terminal, and kill compiz with -9. Then compiz restarts and all my windows are usable again. (Hardware)

I've setup Apache, MySQL & PHP with Webmin. I have recently built a new server using Ubuntu Desktop 10.04 with a 64Bit system. I'm not sure why but now Apache seems to cache all the images in the website. (Hardware)

http://ubuntuforums.org – Can anybody figure out how to use jnoise or at least find the author's homepage? jnoise and jackd are both in apt, but jnoise has no manpage. I can gather that you have to start the jackd daemon, then run jnoise. But I can't actually tell exactly what to do. (Hardware)

[ubuntu] Increasing the size of the swap partitionview story

http://ubuntuforums.org – Hi, I have a code that uses a lot of memory (over 50 GB) and my RAM (16 GB) and current swap space (32 GB) are not enough. Is there way to increase the swap partition size without having to reformat the drive? I also heard you can use swap files (I have no idea how to do that), and can you have huge swap file >20 GB ? Thanks in advance (Hardware)
