It will find my neighbors networks just fine and the windows xp partition I have connects just fine. I assume the wifi adapter is working fine, as like I said it will show my neighbors connections. [ubuntu] How do I revert back from updates?view story

http://ubuntuforums.org – Hello. I just ran into a situation on a Dell Studio 1535 laptop running Ubuntu 10.04 32 bit, where I allowed "Update Manager" to install some automatic updates, which unfortunately destroyed my internet access in that OS (since I have a multiboot), since it evidently tampered with my wireless driver. [ubuntu] Ubuntu 11.10 Application Serverview story

http://ubuntuforums.org – Hello everyone, I am looking at building a Ubuntu Application Server mostly for fun, but also for the learning experience. I am curious if anyone else has tried to do a remote GUI from the 11.10 server and actually had it work correctly with Unity. My last attempt was to use XRDP but when trying to log into the server, all I got was a blue background with no text and/or controls on it. (Hardware)

[ubuntu] 8.04 AMD64 DVD will not install - get busyboxview story

http://ubuntuforums.org – I tried to install 8.04 because of an old package that requires such old distros. When I try to install, it plops into busybox command prompt. Also if I select Check CD from the ubuntu install menu, that goes to busybox as well. If I choose text install, it does lurch into install mode, but then blows a gasket complaining no disk drive found. I managed to install Ubuntu Studio 8.04.1 on same PC. (Hardware)

Finding GTK+ thumbnails....view story

http://ubuntuforums.org – I've written a Gimp plug-in in Python, that needs to access thumbnails from ~/.thumbnails/normal. The plug-in works fine on Ubuntu and is available here, but now I'm trying to port it to Windows, the code that finds the name of the thumbnail simply returns the wrong result. I'm guessing it has something to do with the backslashes, but I've tried all sorts of combinations, without much luck. (Hardware)
