[all variants] Does Ubuntu actually use multiple Cores for anything?view story

http://ubuntuforums.org – Well I don't get why you would get a Multi-core processor if it doesn't. If I was using Just Ubuntu would multiple cores really matter as any CPU intensive things (Gaming as an example) that would use multiple cores are non-existent on Ubuntu. I'm also talking about the Physical Limitations of Linux as a whole. Are there any Programs that use multiple cores? (Hardware)

[ubuntu] LCD Monitor seen as CRT - resolution problemsview story

http://ubuntuforums.org – Just installed Ubuntu 9.10, 32 bit, and my standard 17" LCD monitor is not recognized. Instead, I'm stuck with system defaults and a max resolution of 800x600 (640x480 after installing the nvidia drivers). Since the other 7 distros I'm booting are happily finding the monitor and I'm used to 1024x768, I'm not enjoying the experience. (Hardware)
