Install X non optimum resolutionview story

http://forums.fedoraforum.org – I have googled this and I refuse to believe the answer is "older video card" or "ubuntu". Does anyone know what boot parameters to use or how to get Fedora to start the install process in a resolution other than the "Optimum resolution"? resolution=640x40 vga=ask. These do not work. Close the window and the npviewer.bin cpu use is not even registered using top. This seems to be a problem in 11.1, have not tried 11.2 yet. Any ideas - Thanks (Distributions)
