Auto-NDISwrapper–a tool for enabling wireless network card to work with its Windows driver on Linux
Author: admin Posted in July 17, 2008I often see Linux users complain their wireless network card doesn’t work on Linux at the forums, indeed , some wireless network cards can’t work/work well on Linux. Auto-NDISwrapper would be one of the solutions for those complaints.
Maybe you have ever heard of NDISwrapper which implements Windows kernel API and NDIS (Network Driver Interface Specification) API within Linux kernel,a Windows driver for wireless network card is then linked to this implementation so that the driver runs natively, as though it is in Windows, without binary emulation. However NDISwrapper is not easy to install and use, that’s when Auto-NDISwrapper comes into play.Auto-NDISwrapper lets NDISwrapper be easier.
Auto-NDISwrapper’s working principles.
1. Automatically detect the wireless network card.
2. Disable current wireless network card driver.
3. Download correct Windows driver for the wireless network card.
4. Use NDISwrapper to install the Windows wereless network card driver to Linux.
The latest version of Auto-NDISwrapper is 0.1,Download
